Capstone - Medicine Hat’s Fire Station 1
Since I arrived late in semester four at SAIT from my adventure in Denmark, my Capstone project looks a bit different than most. I was given an existing DP set for Medicine Hat’s Fire Station 1. With this, it was my job to model the building, create a newly revised DP, and eventually turn this project into a working construction drawing set. I chose this fire station as I figured the project’s scope was suitable for how much time I had, and I thought the site was absolutely gorgeous. It is situated right beside the South Saskatchewan River, to allow for water rescue opportunity as well as the typical fire and life safety measures. I was fortunate enough to have a private tour of the facility, where I got access to take pictures and measurements that assisted in my drawings. Working on this project solo proved difficult at times, but I am very satisfied with what I completed in such a short amount of time.
Thank you to the team at Fire Station 1 for the opportunity, as well as S2 Architecture for creating the original design.
